Our Girls

Selah

Selah is a beautifully conformed chocolate 100% Labrador Retriever. Her sire is a solid, stocky English Chocolate Lab, and her dam is a lithe American Chocolate Lab. She has all the DNA clearances (0/206 genetic health risks with Embark DNA testing!) that qualify her to meet our breeding objectives without reserve. Selah was whelped on April 1 st, 2021, and her excellent pedigree includes Master Hunters, Master National Hunters, and Field Champions. Selah is the epitome of friendly and loving, reflective of the respected nature of the beloved Labrador Retriever breed. She is remarkably intelligent and very obedient, desiring to please us and responds eagerly to training. She is maturing into quite a young lady, obedient and winsomely eager to please! She exudes friendliness, and always invites play with Benelli, her beloved bestie. Selah is attracted to water like a magnet and never resists a good splash in the horse tank or a run through the sprinkler. She has a certain shyness around unfamiliar places that is endearing, not timid. When she’s at the vet or a friend’s home, she’ll stick close to Jim or me, so unlike her when she’s on the familiar turf at home. Selah absolutely loves people of any age and makes friends easily. She fits into our enormous family as though she’s always been here.
X-ray exams necessary to meet the OFA hip and elbow dysplasia guidelines have been performed on Selah by veterinary professionals. Selah’s results are hips ~ GOOD; elbows ~ NORMAL. These results help predict a future of healthy hip and elbow joints for Selah and are a good forecast for her puppies’ health when paired with an OFA-tested and approved sire. Her first litter in the fall of 2023 was a beautiful and robust mix of black and chocolate puppies and she proved herself to be a stellar mama!

We chose Waggs as the sire for the current litter with Selah with focused deliberation. His pedigree and achievements in the field are nothing short of phenomenal. His very outstanding American physique is a promising complement to Selah’s English-prominent conformation. We anticipate puppies who model a perfect blend of their impressive heritage. For sport and hunting, their potential is limitless! And Selah’s English breeding lends a calm richness to this unique Lab marriage. Their sweet inherited personalities and deep loyalty will win the love and affection of all their humans.

The genetic constitution of these two parents will produce chocolate and black only, and theoretically, in equal proportions. Of course, we love being surprised and delighted on whelping day when mathematical calculations and Punnett squares make jokes of reality!

We stand firmly behind every single puppy bred at Quiet Brook Acres Labs, guaranteeing our
puppies will test free of common Labrador genetic health risks, and will test free of hip and elbow
dysplastic evidence at twenty-four months old.

Wagg’s is a high drive dog that has lots of style in the field. His disposition in the field is high drive, but in the home, he completely switches off his enthusiasm for his favorite dog bed or to play with kids. He is an excellent marker and has loads of talent to continue running any test games we choose to play.
Wagg’s qualified for the 2023 Master National at only 2-years of age. Amateur trained & handled. Four Field Trial QAA JAMS and a Qualifying 3rd in 2024.
“Wagg’s is already capable of running and passing the HRC International Grand (The HRC International Grand is the pinnacle of United Kennel Club Hunting Retriever tests.)
– Rich Henderson/Professional Dog Trainer and Owner of Prairie Dancer Retrievers.
“In my opinion, Wagg’s is absolutely one of the top amateur trained dogs in the state and that is a credit to just how talented his is in the field.

Beulah

Young Beulah is the cherished daughter of our chocolate dam, Selah, and her accomplished sire, HRCH UH Drake Creek’s Flight Commander MH (“Viper”). She was whelped in the comfort of our home on September 29, 2023. Beulah has tested clear on all 274 Embark DNA panels and is developing the elegant, athletic conformation we value in the Labrador breed. With her joyful character and pleasing personality, she is easy to train, well-mannered, energetic, and loyally kind. As we await her OFA evaluations, she continues to grow into a winsome and beloved companion. We are confident that Beulah will mature into an exceptional Labrador Retriever, with the qualities to meaningfully contribute to the legacy of this remarkable breed.

Benelli

Benelli is the veteran of our Labrador Retriever breeding program at Quiet Brook Acres. She is an AKC registered black Labrador Retriever. She would be considered an American Labrador Retriever when making the distinction between English versus American Labrador Retriever. Every puppy whelped by Benelli has been a tribute to the Labrador Retriever breed! Her hunting and retrieving instincts have passed strongly to her puppies. She is trustworthy with our grandchildren, who love to shower hugs and affection on her. She is a great mama and is attentive and devoted to her puppies. We love her like family! Benelli retired from breeding in 2024.

Our Process

CONTACT OUR OFFICE FOR MORE INFORMATION OR TO MAKE A DEPOSIT ON AN AVAILABLE PUPPY.

We will explain our puppy adoption process and place your name on the list according to placement [1st, 2nd, …] when your deposit is received. Many of our puppies are reserved by the third or fourth week of age, or earlier. We take reservations prior to birth and even ahead of breeding! Puppies are usually chosen at around 6 weeks of age. This permits the breeder and the buyers to assess personality and appropriateness of compatibility. Occasionally choices will be made earlier, based upon individual circumstances. There is a PUPPY DEPOSIT AGREEMENT signed upon deposit reservation, Our deposit fee is $250. To protect the seller’s interests, this deposit is non-refundable. Please choose deliberately.

As conscientious breeders, we care for our mama and puppies diligently and professionally. Their first weeks are spent in our house under watchful eyes and vigilant monitoring. They are moved to more spacious quarters when they are about 2-3 weeks old. They are socialized by Jim and me (Kathy), and a host of adoring grandchildren as they mature. Each puppy is examined before day 5 by a licensed veterinarian, wormed regularly, and vaccinated for common diseases. They receive their second scheduled vet examination at six weeks. Any puppy leaving Nebraska must have another vet examination prior to leaving the state.

ALL OUR PUPPIES ARE AKC REGISTERABLE, PUREBRED, 100% FULL LABRADOR RETRIEVER BREED. Puppy owners will receive AKC registration papers, along with instructions for caring for your puppy, puppy food to start at home, and a healthy puppy! Our puppies transfer ownership with LIMITED AKC REGISTRATION. Nebraska law requires puppies to remain with their mothers until a minimum of 8 weeks of age. Quiet Brook Acres will keep your puppy until at least 8 weeks old.

Our Legacy

Even before they are born, our pups are given the best care and attention. This gives them the opportunity to reach their full potential as they grow into adults in loving homes. We stay in touch with their new families and find so much joy in every detail of who our pups become and what they achieve. Each one has grown into adulthood in the picture of health. And from our litters have come hunters, competitors, family best friends, and support animals. There is nothing a lab can’t do when they are given such a great start. Take a look at our gallery to see what some of our pups have grown up to be!
