Our Values
Quiet Brook Acres is the cherished country home of Benelli, Selah, and Beulah—our beloved Labradors and treasured family members. Nestled on fifteen peaceful acres of woods and meadow, our land is gently divided by a lazy brook that leads to a quiet little pond. Horses roam here too, and the sound of little feet—our grandchildren—often fills the air, along with the laughter of family who have called this beautiful place home through the years.
Our commitment to breeding is rooted in a deep love for the Labrador Retriever and a desire to raise dogs that are the perfect embodiment of intentional, exceptional breeding. We aim to reflect the strength, beauty, and enduring legacy of this remarkable breed.
Puppies from Quiet Brook Acres have proven themselves both in the field and at home. They excel as duck, goose, and quail retrievers, and are equally known for their affectionate, easygoing personalities—making them quick-learning, loyal family companions. One of our pups has even gone on to become a registered service dog by just four months of age, a testament to the intelligence and trainability we strive to cultivate.
We concur with the noted dog judge quoted on the AKC Labrador Retriever site, “‘The Labrador has much that appeals to people; his gentle ways, intelligence and adaptability make him an ideal dog.’ When defining a Lab’s primary attributes, the most important might be temperament since his utility depends on his disposition. ‘If a dog does not possess true breed temperament, he is not a Labrador.’”
Therefore, our breeding program is defined by our goal to further and improve America’s most popular breed through a focus on genetic health, intentional matching of sire and dam, conscientious care, and integrity and fidelity towards those who participate in our growing family of Labrador retriever owners. We are committed to success for every puppy and every owner who joins this circle of Labrador love. These are the values we are proud to carry forward in our breeding program, generation after generation.

Jim & Kathy
Jim and Kathy Hitch are the owners of Quiet Brook Acres. Jim works as a counselor, with his office right here in our barn on the acreage. He loves to work on projects in his shop and has a keen hand at auto repairs and taking care of the “farm.” Benelli, Selah and Beulah are constant companions to Jim whenever they’re outdoors, no matter the season. Whether they’re exploring rabbit holes across the land or chasing squirrels, they’re quick to return to him, faithfully keeping him company while he works in the shop or talks to the horses.
I (Kathy) deeply love the Lord and next to Him, cherish my family and friends. I find joy in offering hospitality at home, being with family, tending to my flower gardens, nurturing puppies, and connecting with nature. The labs love to join me (unless Jim is around! Jim is their all-time favorite!), whether I’m working in the garden or pushing the grandkids on the tree swing. Their manners are respectful—they never knock the kids over or steal their treats! With their gentle nature, they effortlessly win the hearts of everyone they meet.
Our Story
Jim and I chose Benelli when our eight children made their own homes away from our family acreage. Benelli came with impressive paperwork and a beautiful disposition that won our hearts and affection immediately. She grew with the grandchildren and truly exhibits the gentleness, intelligence, loyalty and trustworthiness for which her breed is famous. Her temperament is, indeed, a true reflection of the beloved attributes of the renowned Labrador Retriever, and which have made this breed the number one of ninety-seven other breeds in America since 1991. We retired Benelli from breeding in 2024, deeply grateful for her beautiful puppies who have blessed families far and wide. She remains our beloved, lifelong companion.
In June of 2021, we searched for the perfect second lab to add to our family. We found Selah near Raleigh, North Carolina, and made a trip to the East Coast to make her our very own. Along with an impressive pedigree, Selah’s genetic tests were immaculate, and her parents were exactly what we were dreaming of! She came home as our little girl and melted every heart in the family. She’s a true noble Lab and were incredulous when she whelped her maiden litter of eleven gorgeous puppies in October, 2023!
Young Beulah is the cherished daughter of our chocolate dam, Selah, and her accomplished sire, HRCH UH Drake Creek’s Flight Commander MH (“Viper”). She was whelped in the comfort of our home on September 29, 2023. Beulah has tested clear on all 274 Embark DNA panels and is developing the elegant, athletic conformation we value in the Labrador breed. As we await her OFA evaluations, she continues to grow into a winsome and beloved companion. We are confident that Beulah will mature into an exceptional Labrador Retriever, with the qualities to meaningfully contribute to the legacy of this remarkable breed.
